A net friend recently asked:
In Firefox 1.0, your blog displays the little Firefox RSS livebook mark icon in the lower right hand corner. My blog also has an RSS feed but the icon doesn’t display on my blog.
How does Firefox know about your RSS feed?
Great question! Your page simply needs to have a line such as this in the header:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http://yoursite.com/path/to/myrssfile.xml" />
And now Firefox will know where to look for your RSS file. Also, many RSS readers will recognize this and allow the user to subscribe to the URL of your home page, rather than having to find the link directly to the RSS feed in question.
